The project in detail

MPO Krakow stands at the forefront of waste management and environmental protection initiatives in one of Poland's most historically and culturally rich cities. As the municipal cleaning company in Kraków, MPO plays a central role in shaping sustainable waste management practices that promote both urban cleanliness and environmental integrity.

With a comprehensive approach that spans from collection and transport to environmentally responsible disposal and recycling of waste, MPO Kraków employs innovative and efficient technologies to minimize the city's ecological footprint. In an era when urban centers are increasingly pressured to find sustainable solutions for growing amounts of waste, MPO Kraków serves as an exemplary model of what modern waste management can look like.

Requirements and Goals:
  • Cleaning involves pre-sorted LDPE film from municipal waste—LDPE post-consumer material (DSD310) with a maximum output of 1.600 kg/h
  • MPO Krakow has very high standards for the end product quality of plastic granulate
  • Cleaning in the Lindner car wash with Cold and hot wash (up to approx. 60-80 °C)
  • The newly installed IWAT system should be able to heat up the water in the circuit to a maximum of 80 °C within 2 hours

Special feature:

In addition to the “normal” cold wash cycle (65 m³/h), a hot wash stage is also integrated here (max. 25 m³/h) to remove the remaining organic contaminants such as fats and oils as well as the adhesive residues from the stickers/adhesive labels. This hot wash stage guarantees even better product quality in plastic granulate. This results in higher sales prices for the plastic granulate.

Pretreatment:
  1. Mixing: The Robuschi pump from Lindner “Hotwash Tower” (max. 100 m³/h) pumps the water into the storage tank of the drum sieve.
  2. Separation of solids: The internally charged drum sieve separates the fines that have not already been removed during cold washing from the water.

Chemical-physical treatment:
  1. Compact Conus Flotation: Our patented CCF25000 flotation for 25 m³/h with purified water outflow into the heating tank — the flotation is covered with a 4-piece lid for safety reasons and can be opened in segments for inspection and maintenance.
  2. Heating tank with integrated flange heating, with 3 heating levels that can be switched on and off, where the 1st stage is continuously adjustable
  3. Overflow from heating tank to “Hot Wash Tower” receiving tank
  4. Robuschi  pumps from the “Hot Wash Tower” supply tank to the Lindner “Hot Wash Tower” (max. 100 m³/h)
  5. All tanks and pipes are additionally insulated

Sludge dewatering:
  1. screw press???

Outcome:
  • The drum sieve removes fine particles < 0.5 mm from the waste water.
  • Flotation cleans the “hot” water chemical/physically in a similar way to cold washing.
  • The sludge discharge is significantly lower than with cold washing. Efficient pre-cleaning in cold wash means that there are fewer dirt particles floating in the water.
  • The clear water discharge is very clear — there are no more solids in it.
  • The heater heats the water reliably and quickly to 60 °C or 80 °C.
